Success Stories

From Brian:

Like many middle-aged adults, I found myself putting on some extra pounds over the years.  I tried everything from personal trainers, nutritionists and the latest commercial diet programs hoping to find that one magic fix that would make the pounds go away quickly.  I would have some success at first then would hit a plateau and get frustrated and give up, only to find I would gain the weight back.
My wake-up call came after a review of my blood test result with my doctor.  He informed me that I was pre-diabetic, my blood pressure and cholesterol were too high.  He warned me that I could be headed for problems if I did not lose the extra weight.  He referred me to Mya Steinhardt and told me to come back in three months for a re-check.
I was skeptical at first since I worked with a Dietitian before. After my first consultation I was really impressed with her.  Not only does she have the clinical experience, but she also has lost over 60 pounds herself.  She could relate to the challenges of what I was going through.
Mya developed an individual eating plan specific to my personal needs, tastes, and lifestyle.  Her plan targeted controlling the hormonal response of foods and optimized fat loss.  I found that I could eat many types of foods that I enjoyed and never felt hungry or deprived.
Through weekly coaching and feedback, she helped me identify the root causes of my overeating and bad food choices.  We then worked on strategies to overcome these barriers.  As a Sales Executive, and father of two active teenage boys, my life can bet pretty intense at times.  No matter what the barrier was, Mya would always give me ideas to change my behavior and help me make better choices.
In addition, each week she would educate me on proper nutrition and coach me on the mental aspects, like dealing with stress and having the confidence that I can do this.  I was amazed at how much information she shared.
On my three-month check-up, my doctor was astonished.  He could not believe the results and said they were like I was taking a super attain.  The added benefit was that I also lost 30 pounds.
Whether you are trying to lose weight to look and feel good, reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease, or have other dietary needs, Mya can help you achieve your goals.

From Pam:

Mya helped me kick a fast food cheeseburger addition and gave me the tools to find my way to a stable healthy menu of choices instead.  I have the mantra:  “Don’t let a lapse turn into a relapse” in my mind when temptation starts to beckon.

From Michael:

Over the past ten weeks both my wife and I have had the pleasure of working with Mya Steinhardt on a weight-reduction” and “diabetic control” nutrition program which has produced outstanding results.  Not only have we lost significant weight, (30lbs loss for me, 20lbs loss for my wife), our blood glucose levels also have been reduced significantly.  In my case, blood glucose levels have been reduced from the 200’s to the low 100 level.  My wife’s stats are similar as well.

Both of us highly endorse Mya’s program and methodology.  She is able to create a customized approach to nutrition that is “easy to live with” and produces results.  Believe me – I have tried quite a few programs over the years and have not see such an effective outcome.

Besides being highly professional in her approach, she is extremely personable to work with and is an effective motivator.  We highly recommend Mya to anyone wanting to seriously take control of their dietary habits and who are looking for a program that can easily be maintained for their long term health & wellness.

From Judy:

Before I met Mya, I had ended up in the emergency room twice for diverticulitis. I have never had to go back again since I have worked with her. As an added gift, Mya lowered my cholesterol, and I went from 40mg to 10mg with my statin medication.

From June:

I was overweight, suffered from anxiety attacks, my lab numbers were abnormal, and I had high blood pressure.  My internist referred me to a cardiologist and to a dietitian named Mya Steinhardt.

Mya immediately reviewed my eating habits and prescribed a diet program based on my lab results.  She taught me to eat mindfully, record everything I ate, and to exercise regularly.

My cardiologist who practiced at Integrative Medicine at Scripps Hospital was very impressed with my weight loss and recommended that I attend a workshop on mindfulness.  Everything I learned at the workshop reinforced the skills I had already learned from Mya Steinhardt.

I had lost 15 pounds, my lab results were normal, and I felt happier and healthier.  Thank you Mya.
